The Gwangtong Bridge dates back to 1410. It was buried when a road was built on the site in the late 1950s. It was eventually restored as part of the Cheonggyecheon redevelopment project in 2005. As the new Cheonggye stream is wider than it originally was, additional stones had to be cut to make the bridge fit.
